There were approximately 16,000 Canadian euthanasia deaths in 2023 and more than 60,000 since legalization.

Alex Schadenberg
Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

Based on euthanasia data from Quebec, Ontario and Alberta, I predict that there were approximately 16,000 Canadian euthanasia deaths in 2023 and more than 60,000 euthanasia deaths since legalization. There were 13,241 Canadian euthanasia deaths in 2022.

The Quebec Commission on End-of-Life Care released it's Eighth Annual Report which indicated that there were 5211 reported euthanasia deaths (April 1, 2022 - March 31, 2023) which was up from 3663 in the previous year (April 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022). According to the data there have been 15,997 reported euthanasia deaths from legalization until March 31, 2023 in Quebec.

This represents more than a 42% increase in Québec euthanasia deaths in 2023 representing 6.8% of all Québec deaths, which is the highest in the world.

The report also indicates that from April 1 - June 30, 2023 the number of reported Quebec euthanasia deaths increased by another 24%, a slower pace of growth, but substantial considering the massive number of euthanasia deaths.

Shockingly, 15% of those who died by euthanasia in Quebec were not terminally ill.

The Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario released the December 2023 MAiD data indicating that there were 4641 reported euthanasia deaths in 2023 which was by 18% from 3934 reported euthanasia deaths in 2022.

The Ontario euthanasia data indicates that there have been 18,373 (MAiD) deaths since legalization in June 2016. For clarity, there were 18,370 euthanasia deaths and 3 assisted suicide deaths.

Euthanasia is done by a doctor or nurse injecting a person, usually upon request, with a lethal poison cocktail.

Assisted suicide is done by a doctor or nurse prescribing a person, usually upon request, a lethal poison cocktail that the person would take themselves.

According to the data, of the 4641 reported euthanasia deaths in 2023, 116 were people who were not terminally ill, 28 of the deaths were followed by organ donation and the final consent was waived in 191 deaths. The final consent is waived when a person may become incompetent.

The Alberta Health Services data indicates that there were 977 reported assisted death in 2023 which was up by more than 18% from 836 reported assisted deaths in 2022 and 594 in 2021.

The Alberta data indicates that there has been 3914 reported (MAiD) deaths since legalization in June 2016.

Canada was planning to institute euthanasia for mental illness alone on March 17, 2024, but Canada's Health Minister, Mark Holland, has introduced a bill that would delay the implementation of euthanasia for mental illness until March, 2027.

We hope that this is the first sign of a government that will stop the expansion of euthanasia in Canada.

Euthanasia is out of control in Canada. 2023 update:

In December, a BC cancer patient died by euthanasia after BC Cancer couldn't provide him chemotherapy (Link). Waiting lists for cancer treatment in Canada continues to get worse.

In October, Bill C-314, that would have prevented euthanasia for mental illness, was defeated (Link). Also in October, Health Canada reported that there were 13,241 assisted deaths in 2022 representing 4.1% of all deaths (Link).

In August we reported that a Vancouver woman was offered euthanasia as a "treatment" during a mental health crisis (Link).

In July a Canadian military veteran slammed the Canadian government for the euthanasia deaths of veterans with PTSD (Link).

In June we reported that a Canadian quadriplegic woman was approved for euthanasia as she waited to be approved for disability benefits to enable her to live (Link). We also reported that the euthanasia lobby had launched a campaign to force a Catholic hospital in BC to provide euthanasia (Link). *In December, the BC government expropriated property from the Catholic hospital to build a killing center next to the Catholic hospital (Link).

In May we reported that a Québec funeral home was offering euthanasia (Link).

In February, Canada's Special Joint Committee on Medical Aid in Dying issued a report calling on parliament to extend euthanasia to "mature minors" and by advanced directive (Link). According to the report, Canadian children would be able to be euthanized with or without parental consent (Link).

In January we reported that a Vancouver doctor euthanized a man who was deemed to be incapable of consenting (Link). We also reported on Tyler Dunlop who was homeless and seeking death by euthanasia (Link).

*In December, Tyler Dunlop, who had applied to die by euthanasia, published a book titled: Therefore Choose Life - My Journey from Hopelessness to Hope (Link). Order the book from EPC (Order Link).

Awww...60,000 people & counting! :( It's appalling that people are allowing (giving permission to) these WICKED ones (who are only pretending to CARE about what's best for them) the POWER to snuff out their lives! :(

I get that people are too scared to take their own lives (due to their physical, emotional or financial suffering) and/or they don't want to "feel pain", they just want to close their eyes & go to sleep, like when you put a dog down at the vet...I guess. Yikes :( How sad that people seem to feel worse when they have to put a beloved pet down, than when a friend or a loved one is going to be put down/euthanized, as THIS is increasingly becoming a celebration! Ugh! :( What's WRONG with this picture?

I also get that people have become (Spiritually & emotionally) weak, hopeless, fearful, drugged up & beaten down but, make no mistake..this is all because this world has been fervently indoctrinated into atheism over the decades & as a result, people have gone far, far away from faith in GOD/JESUS. :(

One question I have is...do people not understand how (willingly) giving these Dr.s & nurses this kind of POWER over people's lives leads to/breeds cold-blooded, diabolical, hardhearted, arrogant killers/murderers?

NO ONE should give ANYONE the POWER to kill them! That's ridiculous! Since when ??? Especially NOT because they are homeless, or poverty stricken, or depressed, or disabled in any way! Seriously?

How about stepping out IN FAITH & PRAYING, instead? Gasp! Did she just say to step out in FAITH ??? That dreaded 5 letter word that (in today's Godless world) is looked upon with CONTEMPT, MOCKERY & DISGUST? Yes, I did say in FAITH...FAITH in JESUS, to be exact! (:

Trust & believe, I have been THERE (suicidal, depressed, poverty stricken/jobless/penniless, ill, not knowing WHERE I was going to live from one day to the next...aaaand more than once during my lifetime). (:

However, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. GOD Almighty, in Heaven has made the WAY for me (even miraculously, at times), where there seemed to be NO WAY! Glory Alleluia! Why ??? Because I have a STRONG & UNSHAKABLE faith. Thanks to my salvation, in Christ Jesus. (:

In other words, I am NOT a GOD hater, a doubter, an unbeliever, a mocker or a scoffer. This is why I have CLEARLY seen the hand of GOD, in my life over & over again & why I have seen countless prayers answered (for myself & others). (:

No matter what I've had to deal with, GOD has always been there to rescue me out of those many trials, through HIS love, mercy, grace, hope, peace & provision. (: Trust & believe, it's also this way for other true believers, as we ALL have REAL & AMAZING testimonies! (: Glory Alleluia!

GOD Almighty, our Creator is FAITHFUL & GOOD and HE will come through for ALL who HUMBLY (not mockingly) call upon HIM & place their in FAITH in (accept) HIS free of grace, that is IN Christ Jesus. (:

Again, I am a living testimony to GOD'S love, grace, mercy, peace, promises, faithfulness, help, provision, protection & power. (:

So, I urge everyone who is going through one or many of these difficult & (seemingly) hopeless situations, to PLEASE...stop giving wicked/evil/Godless people the POWER over your life and death. FIRST, step out in FAITH (you have absolutely NOTHING to lose & EVERYTHING to gain) & call upon the Lord Jesus for help & believe the Gospel. (:

Contrary to what the enemy (the Devil) tries to whisper into your ears...THERE IS HOPE, in Christ, my friends. (: I should know! (: Remember, the Devil's not called the father of LIES & the great DECEIVER for nothing!

Blessings, Hugs, Prayers & Love, in Christ! (:

Some people really don't know what to do when they are in such agony and pain. Therefore, we the people should get to know our neighbours and lend a helping hand when needed. We can not condemn people that are seeking relief, because pain is all consuming at times. Not everyone has the same inner strength. Therefore, we need to speak out for those who can not speak for themselves. We need to lend a hand to help our fellow humans whether they have faith or not. Because after all, Jesus would.

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12 In everything I did, I showed you that this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than receive." Acts 20:35

Yes, I agree. We definitely need to show the love of Christ to everyone/anyone who is suffering and/or needs help. Part of that help & love is to tell people (that have no faith) that there IS hope, healing & eternal life, in Christ JESUS. (: Therefore, there is nothing more loving than spreading the Gospel, giving people hope & encouragement (via our testimonies) & pointing people towards JESUS (eternal life/salvation).

What's really sad, is that countless people have been taught (& convinced) that faith is to be mocked, GOD Almighty, in Heaven/our Creator isn't real, JESUS is merely a myth & once a person dies, they just close their eyes, cease to exist & all of their pain & suffering is over...That's not true, that is a false hope & a deception from the Devil. :( JESUS is REAL & so is GOD'S righteous Judgment, Heaven & the "Lake of Fire".

So people need to be aware & prepared for all of this after they die. Because life does NOT end when we take our last breath here & neither does suffering if one dies unforgiven/in their sin & without Christ JESUS (who took the nails/punishment for our sins for us).

So yes, physically helping people HERE while they are still alive/on earth is GOOD, but helping someone to prepare spiritually for after they die (so that they can be able to AVOID even more waaaaay more pain & suffering for eternity) is even BETTER. (:
