Delaware Governor John Carney |
On September 20, Delaware Governor John Carney vetoed Assisted Suicide Bill HB 140 (Link to the Statement by Governor Carney).
You may remember that Bill HB 140 went through a roller coaster of votes before it passed by one vote on June 25. On June 25 we published this statement:
The Delaware Senate passed assisted suicide Bill HB 140 on June 25 by an 11 to 10 vote during a second vote on the bill.
On June 20 we reported that the Delaware Senate defeated the assisted suicide Bill HB 140 by a 9 to 9 vote. I thanked the many Delaware citizens who worked to defeat the bill.

You can also contact him at his Wilmington Office at: 302-577-3210
Thank you to everyone who contacted Governor Carney urging him to veto the bill. Thank you to everyone who works so hard, donates to the work, and does what they can to oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide.
Life-saving victories, such as this one, only occur with your support and commitment.

How can we contact the governor to thank him?
I have two previous articles at the bottom of this article that contain his contact information.
Why was there a vote on June 25 when there had been an earlier vote on June 20? Isn't one vote enough to defeat a bill? A similar incident occurred in my region where a school board meeting approved a bill, only for the left wing thugs on the board to demand another vote, which promptly ended on the same result. Why can't the left take no for an answer?
The legislative system allow them to get approval or a second vote when several of the members were not available for the vote a few days earlier. I am not suggesting this is the right thing to do, but it is obviously happening.
C&C avoids telling the truth. Calling them out with corrections is
Catholic Pastoral critical. Most who really know the biological and medical science are opposed to the process. Capital punishment is questioned because of the extraordinary inhumane suffering. But the drugs are the same. Why some things that what is unacceptable for a convicted murderer is acceptable for a cancer patient is a miscarriage of ethics and morality, and a wishful venture into a fantasy that never existed. One of the worst scams of the times. We now know that at least 2/4 of all nonresponsives are still experiencing pain and suffering even if unable to express. Vocally or make a physical sign indicating the distress they are feeling. No one deserves to die like that.
