The poor, the homeless, the abused, veterans, seniors, youth, adults suffering from disabilities, those suffering from depression, and mental health conditions.
These are among the most vulnerable in our society that are falling through the cracks of Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying regime.
They are the ones who will be at risk when the MAiD laws in Canada are expanded in March 2024.
Last years death by euthanasia increased by 30% from the year before. Every day in Canada 36 people use MAiD to end their lives, which is the highest in the world.
Last week I hosted a forum with Canadians who are disturbed by the expansion of MAiD euthanasia regime to include the mentally ill. This expansion is not about compassion it's a betrayal of the most vulnerable.
I call upon this government to reverse its course and instead provide help and hope for Canadians suffering with mental health conditions.Thank you Dr Lewis for standing up for people with mental health conditions in Canada.
P.S. 36 euthanasia deaths every day is the highest in the world. Canada's euthanasia rate was 4.1% of all deaths in 2022 which was lower than the Netherlands euthanasia rate which was 5.1% of all deaths. Canada's population is greater than the Netherlands making 36 euthanasia deaths per day higher than the daily number of euthanasia deaths in the Netherlands.

This is extremely disturbing on sooooo many levels. :( Most people aren't standing up against this EVIL [or seeing it for what is really is...depopulation & eugenics] & so this is just being allowed to continue... Where IS everybody ????
Where is everybody? ASLEEP and buying all the lies being fed to them by the media. This a tradgedy and we will all have to answer for this one day when we are face to face with our Maker.
Yes Alarmed, people ARE absolutely ASLEEP & buying all the lies being fed to them by the media. Distracted, dumbed dumb, full of themselves & fighting against each other on social media to even give a CARE about this tragedy [& many others]that's happening right under their noses. Soon, sooooo many people are going to be in for a very rude awakening! :(
Thank you, Dr. Leslie for speaking on behalf of many Canadians whose lives will be affected by our gov't. decision in late March, 2024 in regards to Maid being offered to patients suffering with mental illnesses and other vulnerable groups. Thank you Dr. Lewis for speaking up on behalf of many who cannot speak for themselves. This is a culling of the weak, the terminally ill, the elderly, the physically and mentally disabled, and the mentally ill. Under MAID our lives do not matter and we are pressured to end our pathetic existence so that able-bodied people can have access to the healthcare dollars we are currently using. It isn't what is coming, I am here as a physically disabled person, telling you it has been happening for more than 13 years. BC is the worst province in Canada for deaths by MAID and that's because it is actively pushed. I was pressured by nurses and doctors twice at Victoria General Hospital to accept MAID as they deemed my suffering unbearable and my life barely existing. I was also pressured to take MAID by staff at Medicine Hat Hospital and when I refused, the nurse looking after me that day sneered and said, "if I was in your shoes, I would take it in a heartbeat. You're quality of life is zero and you are being utterly selfish in wasting healthcare beds and dollars when other contributing able-bodied Canadians could be using them instead. You should be ashamed." To which I replied, "Murder is murder, you cannot justify it and you will have to give an account for such a lack of compassion one day. You shouldn't be allowed near patients."
Wow Heather !!! That is absolutely horrific, sickening & unacceptable !!! I'm so sorry you have also been pressured into giving your consent to be MURDERED, by these WICKED EVIL and ARROGANT GOD & people haters who own & run these hospitals [& the world] and by these vile & heartless so-called "nurses" who have been heavily indoctrinated and are eerily like robots, devoid of ANY compassion, care and/or love.:(
These workers for the devil are bought and paid for & their job is to bully, ridicule, convince, torment, pressure, coerce & shame their [precious] patients [with verbal vomit, deception & wicked sneers!] into thinking it's better & more humane to allow them to kill you off! Smh! What LIARS!
This is soooo BAD! People need to take a stand against this because THEY could also find themselves and/or their loved ones, in this SAME situation one day, as life can turn on a dime for all of us!
