Slovenia appears to have rejected euthanasia again.

I have good news. Slovenia's STA news reported that euthanasia has been removed from the current assisted dying bill. I am waiting for a comment from my contacts in Slovenia, nonetheless it appears promising. The STA news reported:

The coalition has drafted a new bill on assisted dying that no longer includes an option for doctors to administer lethal drugs, after last year's version of the bill was met with stiff resistance from the medical profession.

In January 2024, I travelled to Slovenia to meet with politicians, several media outlets, including television news interview shows and to speak to a large audience in Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital to oppose the Slovenian euthanasia bill, which was very similar to Canada's euthanasia law.

In March 2024 I was informed by the leader of the groups that are opposing euthanasia, that the bill was defeated by the Slovenian government. The Slovenian government immediately announced their intend to have a referendum on the "basic question" of euthanasia rather than the bill they were debating.

In June 2024, I announced that the Slovenian people passed the non-binding referendum (55% to 45%) which in fact suggested support for the concept of assisted suicide.

The fact that the Slovenian government appears to have, once again, rejected euthanasia is good news. I will keep you up-to-date on the developments.
