I received this email from a supporter this morning. (Alex Schadenberg)
We have a wheelchair and medical equipment supply company in BC and recently encountered a young man in his late twenties with a rare condition who was counselled to accept MAID, and had consented to do so. The “breaking point” for him, beside living with the consequences of his condition, was poor access to his residence leaving him a “prisoner in his own home.”
Meanwhile we became aware at the same time that a woman who had recently installed a special wheelchair lifting device in her home for the benefit of her ailing husband, who was suddenly bereaved when he passed away from his disease.
One of our sales staff, knowing the plight of the young man, gently asked the woman “if she would consider donating the lifting unit for someone else in need.” There would be a significant cost (about $5000), to dismantle the elevation unit at her residence and then move it to the new site and re-install it. Upon learning this, she not only donated the unit, but also agreed to pay the cost of removal and re-installation for the young man who desperately needed this device for access to his home.
Here is the ultimate effect of her generosity: the young man decided NOT to proceed with MAiD.
What a story! What a Christmas gift – essentially a “gift of life itself!”
Such a wonderful world it could be...If we would all think like that dear woman..Thank you for sharing that witness..it shows so very clearly just how and why people are feeling the hopelessness and the pressure to give up..Keep the LIGHT shining on this urgent Issue of LIFE ... and the social/medical pressure
ReplyDeleteto give up...++
Are these people willing to come forward publicly?
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, it's a story that needs to be told, and publicized widely.
There should be a website where people can list their needs, because many times others who may be able to assist, aren't aware of a need. It would help if they were also shown a photo of the people requesting a need and a little about them, such as any dreams they had at one time for the future. Perhaps some of those dreams might still be fulfilled in small or even large ways. Most people want to be effective helpers in some way. The poor people most likely would also like to fulfill a role in being helpful in society. A website might connect them with others who would help them find their way to the point of feeling happy and valuable again.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news! (: Praise & Glory to GOD! May that woman be blessed abundantly, in JESUS' name...Amen!

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
I like your idea, Rose! (:
ReplyDeleteRose and Vi,
ReplyDeleteI like the way you're thinking. Please visit https://living-with-dignity.ca/home/the-mutual-aid-office where we've listed a few ideas like what you're suggesting. It will take someone with a lot of tech know-how to set it up, but it might really help some people choose to stay in the struggle rather than choosing MAID. Are you that kind of person? Or do you have some other skills to offer?Please let me know by emailing admin@living-with-dignity.ca. My name's Patricia Seeley, the president of LWD.
Hi Patricia,
ReplyDeleteI thank you for reaching out. (: Even so, I am not tech savvy. Nor do I have any (special) skills to offer. All I have are prayers and words of HOPE & LIFE (everlasting), through our Savior JESUS & the Gospel (the Good news), for everyone that I come across. (:
Blessings, Prayers and Love, in Christ to you and yours.
Sincerely, Vi
(Titus 2:11-14)
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Thank you for sharing this news about the options that support life instead of giving up on life
