Press Release: A growing number of Canadian physicians are being bullied to participate in MAiD.

PRESS RELEASE
Alert from a growing number of Canadian physicians
“We are being bullied to participate in Medical Assistance in Dying”

Petition: Reject euthanasia Bill C-7 (Link).

MontrĂ©al, March 9, 2020 - The Physicians’ Alliance against Euthanasia has received reports that unwilling physicians are being pressured and bullied to participate in Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD): euphemism for euthanasia and assisted suicide. Fearing reprisals, physicians have asked that no information that could identify them be disclosed.

The pressure has been intense for many physicians, especially amongst palliative specialists, some leaving their profession even before this latest development. Descriptions were made of toxic practice environments and fear of discipline by medical regulators.

“The anxiety, fear, and sadness surrounding my work bled into my family life, and I ultimately felt that I could not manage practicing palliative care at this stage of my life.”
(Former palliative care physician, March 2020)
In different locations across Canada over the last months there has been a change in certain hospital MAiD policies. The change seems intended to provoke crisis or confrontation: to force objecting physicians to facilitate MAiD, or to have to refuse — and face contrived allegations of “obstructing access.” Reports consistently focus on the MAiD providers refusing to accept full responsibility for the death of the patient and forcing other physicians to share responsibility for the death. If the physician asks to withdraw from care and allow the MAiD provider to take over as before, the MAiD provider resists assuming the natural pattern of care.

The reports we are hearing from distressed physicians describe deliberate disruption of arrangements that were previously working satisfactorily and that had permitted patients to have access to MAiD while still allowing for conscience objectors to not be involved in facilitating the patient’s death. This bullying and betrayal of collegial relationships can poison practice environments and compromise patient care. Such behavior should not be tolerated by health care administrators in Canada.

Canadian physicians having similar stories of bullying are encouraged to contact the Physicians’ Alliance by email: info@collectifmedecins.org.

  1. Is there a petition or something similar where Canadians can stand up for these Doctors, who out of knowing the difference between right and wrong are, against their will, being forced to comply with something so horrendous as intentionally taking the life of another?

  2. We the people of Canada should make the decision as to how we are to leave not politicians nor medical doctors. We were given life not by man but the Supreme Creator Jesus Christ,King OF Kings and Lord of Lords. The God of Abraham,Issac,Jacob is the one and the only one who gives life, and takes life when, and where he and he alone decides. No self appointed or government has the right over our bodies,Any man or woman who decides that they have the right to take a life are fools. One day all those who have taken and will take babies will stand before Jesus Christ and answer for the wrongs they have committed. No one but no one has this the right to a human beings life.

  3. I would like to suggest that every person who is against MAiD and euthanasia stand up and speak out for their doctors who are being bullied into going against their God-given conscience by assisting in taking the life of another. God gave everyone a conscience to know right from wrong. No one on this earth has the right to bully someone else to go against what God gave each of us as a regulator of what is right or wrong...our conscience. Doctors work for the good of the people, unlike government. Doctors are the government's biggest target and they have their professional duties interfered with more than any other profession. They spent more money to get to be a professional who loves and cares for people and desires to keep people healthy, or be there for them when they need diagnosis and treatment. The government loads them with paperwork that a secretary should be doing and cuts back on what they are allowed to do.
It is time doctors are treated with respect and honor for their hard work done because they care about people.

For myself and all my loved ones, I only want doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals for me and my loved ones who are pro life, not pro death. How can one trust any professional who is pro death?
You are literally putting your life, or loved one's life, in the hands of a killer!

It is very selfish of anyone to have someone else do the job for you, when you no longer want to live. It is not only selfish, it is evil. This is what happens when God gets kicked out and relativism takes His place. There are no longer any laws for what is good, because good is considered evil and evil is now considered good. We need to get the Ten Commandments back and we need to recognize Truth is absolute. Jesus Christ is Truth. He is also the way, and the life. John 14:6.

Write to you politicians, take up petitions, write into editorials to support doctors and other medical professionals who are being bullied. Let your doctors know you care about them.

  4. It is a sad time fir Canada when doctors who are trained to save lives are feeling threatened by the public & by their professional organizations because they wish to heal not kill. Ths challenge needs to be heard at the Supreme Court of Canada.
