Conservative Party of Canada opposes expansion of euthanasia.

Alex Schadenberg
Executive Director - Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

The Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) Policy Convention (August 25) in Halifax overwhelmingly supported a party policy opposing the expansion of euthanasia (MAiD). The policy stated that the CPC:
Opposed the extension of euthanasia and assisted suicide to minors, to people who are not competent and people who live with psychological suffering.
Previous CPC Policy conventions supported conscience rights for doctors, nurses and others, and opposed the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) does not support a political party. We support candidates and elected representatives from all political parties that oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Now that the Conservative Party of Canada has approved these policies, the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition will urge them, and others, to act on these policies.

  1. Is there a hope that we will ever have a federal party that fully embraces life? The Liberals and the N.D.P. are now deep in the culture of death.
Will life ever be held as the number one human right in Canada?
I had to leave a Facebook group after being attacked by Conservatives for defending the right to life for the unborn.
Will the Conservatives make euthanasia illegal again???

  2. As you see, the Conservative party opposes Euthanasia as they did in last administration. There are many Conservatives who oppose abortion also, but others that support it. There is a struggle within the party, and the present leader will not re-open the abortion debate. But, with pressure from anti-abortionists within the party, there is a chance he will. Traditionally conservatives do not support abortion. In the states, the President is working on defunding Planned Parenthood, and overturning Roe vs. Wade, so that eventually abortion will no longer exist.

  3. It's nice to know that there is a party that we can turn to. The Liberals and NDP seem to have lost their reasoning skills; jumping onto an ill fated band wagon because it seems all they can see is saving dollars to spend where and for what cause? Ageism is all a round us, we need to stay strong and fight these dark forces that threaten to engulf us.

    Peace be with you.
