Tragic alleged case of assisted suicide may be linked to Coronation Street episode.

A 21 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting suicide in the death of Emma Crossman (21).

Early reports indicate that this tragic case of alleged assisted suicide may have been connected to a relationship break-up.

An article in the Mirror stated that A woman neighbour said:
“I’d see Emma walking with her boyfriend but not for several weeks – so we did wonder if they had split up.
A man called Dee wrote on the page of the tattoo parlour he runs:
“Rest in peace Emma Louise Crossman my beautiful troubled little star. x.”
A Mirror article on January 18 indicated that Crossman's suicide may have been linked to a Coronation Street episode. The article stated:
Crossman fanatically watched the ITV soap with her best friend, who has been arrested over the death.
And last night Emma’s ex, who asked not to be named, said he believed the show’s euthanasia plot “might have tipped them over the edge”.
Tragic circumstances, such as this death, show how people need to be protected by suicide prevention programs and groups and by laws prohibiting assisted suicide. People experience difficult personal experiences. A caring society focuses on suicide prevention and maintains laws prohibiting assisted suicide.
