EPC National Conference - November 10, 2012 - London Ontario.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition is holding its National Conference at the Ramada Hotel in London Ontario on Saturday November 10, 2012.

The conference will run from 10 am until 5 pm and be followed by the Dinner at 6 pm.

The Conference theme is: Protecting People from Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide.

The Dinner will honour Dr. Barrie deVeber, the EPC founding President who has led EPC for 14 years. The dinner will begin at 6 PM.

Dr Margaret Cottle

Dr. Margaret Cottle, a palliative care physician and a clinical care instructor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver BC. She is also the EPC Vice President. Dr. Cottle speaks on why medical professionals need to reject euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Linda Couture

Linda Couture, the Director of Vivre dans la Dignité (Living with Dignity) in Quebec. Vivre dans la Dignité has been the leading voice opposing euthanasia and assisted suicide in Quebec. Linda will update us on what is happening in Quebec.

Dr. Barrie deVeber is a retired paediatric oncologist, an expert in paediatric palliative care (among other areas) and the founding President of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition.

Margaret Dore

Margaret Dore is an attorney from Seattle Washington who specializes in Elder law. She is the President of Choice Is An Illusion, an organization that opposes euthanasia and assisted suicide. Margaret will speak about maintaining an effective message to defeat euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Amy Habrouck is an attorney who now lives in Quebec. She is the Chair of the Board of the disability rights group Not Dead Yet, and she is working to form Not Dead Yet Canada. An article entitled: How about the right to cry for help was written by Amy and was published in the Montreal Gazette. Amy and Rhonda will speak about euthanasia, assisted suicide and disability rights.

Alex Schadenberg is the executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition and the International Chair, co-ordinating groups opposing euthanasia and assisted suicide. He will show how other jurisdictions have exposed vulnerable people to euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Rhonda Wiebe

Hugh Scher is a constitutional lawyer in Toronto who specializes in disability, insurance and employment law. Hugh is the EPC legal counsel. He will update us concerning the status of the Carter case in BC, the Leblanc case in Quebec and the Rasouli case in Ontario.

Rhonda Wiebe is the Co-Chair of the Council of Canadians Ending of Life Issues Committee in Manitoba, she is a member of the Not Dead Yet board and she is a a member of the EPC board. An article by Rhonda entitled: The assisted suicide slope is slick for vulnerable people was published in the Winnipeg Free Press.  Rhonda and Amy will speak about euthanasia, assisted suicide and disability rights.
