I am saddened that this bill will make it all to easy for exploitation of the vulnerable to occur and that no pause for second thoughts is being maintained in the new bill. It is shocking that governments are interfering with the delivery of the medical specialty of hospice and palliative care. We must stand up to stop Bill C-7 as there is no data or evidence to my knowledge that measures risks or effectiveness in appropriately providing euthanasia. How do we know it is not painful or suffocating? Who is recording whether proper protocols are being followed? What impact is euthanasia having on loved ones? Will there be greater strain on our health care system due to the trauma on family members who do not agree with euthanasia? So many questions that are not even being asked or documented to my knowledge. It is very sad to see the lack of interest, funding and support for dramatically increasing palliative care resources after so many pioneers in the development of palliative care have worked to improve how we live well until we die. <br />Nancy Macey, Former Delta Hospice Society Executive Director.
