Join the Conservative Party to vote for a leader that opposes (MAiD)

Alex Schadenberg
Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

On September 10, 2022 members of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) will have the opportunity to vote for a new party leader. Every Canadian who purchases a membership in the CPC before June 3 will be able to vote for a new CPC party leader.

A one year CPC membership is $15 (CPC membership link).

Supporters of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) are not a monolithic group, nonetheless, joining the Conservative Party to vote for a leader that opposes euthanasia (MAiD) is important.

In March 2021 the CPC re-affirmed its opposition to (MAiD) euthanasia at its online policy convention. (Link)

EPC is assessing the positions of the leadership candidates and will inform our supporters of their positions.

The approved leadership candidates are: Scott Aitchison, Roman Baber, Patrick Brown, Jean Charest, Leslyn Lewis and Pierre Poilievre. Some of these candidates support MAiD.

Whether you support the principles of the CPC or not, EPC encourages Canadians who oppose MAiD to purchase a CPC membership and vote for a leadership candidate that opposes MAiD.

A one year CPC membership is $15 (CPC membership link).

Sorry much as I am prolife, and have been my entire life, I am totally against single issue politics. Leading Canada requires a huge skill set for many, many issues such as climate change and healing of relationships. Far more than a single issue which is ultimately between us and creator God. Also I’m very concerned about the linkage with the American far right in these issues. Thank you.

I understand your point of view Margo, nonetheless, a leadership vote enables people, who choose to buy a membership, an opportunity to vote for a leader that shares their perspective.

Margo, you are right that there are many issues to consider. But since no candidate or party addresses correctly all issues, we must prioritize wisely. To me, and to many supporters of the protection of human life, it is clear that working to remove widespread and direct threats to human life should be a the top of the list. Peace to you.

Tony that was kindly and perfectly said...
If the next leader doesn’t stand for these core issues,.. they likely won’t stand for any foundational issues that need to be in place to offer protection. Issues like teaching kids there is no gender confusion,... male & female.
No drag queens teaching kids, no murdering people calling it “assistance”! No abortions.
God gave us life and liberty
this is a foundation to build on.

God has ordained the sanctity of all human life. He does not condone us having one foot in the pagan world and the other one in a Christian life.
